Sedona recently launched Mala Mondays, enabling participants to create their own malas of wood beads and gemstones with attributes that might bring focus in meditation, enhance concentration, offer protection, whatever you feel you need.
The Buddhist prayer tool comprises 108 beads signifying the mortal desires of mankind, helping believers to count mantras.
If you’re not inclined to meditate, they’re also simply beautiful to wear.
Mala Mondays will take place 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 13, 20 and 27 at the store at Ward Centre. The fee for the make-and-take class is $39.95 plus tax, which includes a wood-bead mala kit. Additional gemstones are sold separately for a few dollars apiece. Seating is limited and pre-payment is required to reserve your space. Call (808) 591-8010.
