Herringbone Waikiki is partnering with Lyons Estate to launch its fundraiser for native forest and ‘ohia lehua preservation project on Girls Day, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 3.
The restaurant will host a free-with-sign-up haku lei-making brunch featuring the lehua blossom. Guests can enjoy $25 Bottomless Mimosas and Endless Rosé, while viewing a seedling demonstration and learning the art of haku lei-making with expert Meleana Estes.
The ‘ohia lehua, a significant tree in Native Hawaiian culture, is endangered by the fungal virus Rapid Ohia Death, which is wiping out ‘ohia forests trees throughout Hawaii.

The Lyons Estate, located on the Big Island of Hawaii, is fundraising to support preservation of 20 acres of ohia lehua trees and its seedling program. All donations raised will go toward the management plan for the Department of Land and Natural Resources Forestry Program, which will continue seedling education, and has banked up to two million seeds with the #OHIALOVE project. A portion of Herringbone Waikiki’s proceeds will be donated to the cause.
